Captain Dennis White

Dennis is a native of the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan and began fishing the St. Mary’s River in the 1970’s while he attended Lake Superior State University, where he received an Associate’s Degree in Natural Resource Management Technology.

He grew up fishing for Brook Trout on the small creeks of the E.U.P. and chasing Steelhead in the tributaries feeding Lake Superior, Lake Huron, and Lake Michigan. He taught himself fly fishing and fly tying at an early age, reading books and articles written on this subject.

Dennis is a passionate outdoorsman and a steward of the resources. He practices conservation and cares about teaching others how to do the same. His knowledge of the fisheries and angling methods makes him an exceptional guide, and his clients are sure to learn more than just how and where to catch fish.

Dennis is a US Coast Guard licensed captain and takes every precaution to place client safety first.

Captain Travis White

Travis grew up fishing on the St. Mary’s River and learned fly fishing from Dennis at an early age. He began guiding at the age of eighteen after earning his captain’s license from the US Coast Guard.

Travis no longer actively guides with the St. Mary’s Guide Co. on a full-time basis since receiving a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University. He is now the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of ProNav Marine, runs a guide service in the Keweenaw Peninsula, and works at the Great Lakes Research Center at Michigan Tech.
